2019 Eloquesta Shiraz Petit Verdot Case

Price range: $270.00 through $540.00

2019, A great Vintage with even ripening amongst all red varieties and it even allowed me to late ripen as is my want and hope amongst certain parcels of fruit to develop that really deep purple fruited ‘bass tone’. depth and richness.

All Shiraz and Petit Verdot came off with exciting fruit purity and richness, where the skins looked black and tannic and were desperate to give colour and flavour without much extraction. Ferments were 18 to 21 days long with vigorous plunging every day. Temperature of ferments 25 to 28 degrees. Pressed off straight into new and old French, Hungarian and Russian Oak for 5 years. Topping barrels every 3 weeks. I love long barrel ageing for real concentration and depth for days.

Tasting Notes:
The colour is a fantastic deep garnet blue purple that’s saturated on the glass. The nose is expressive immediately with pink marshmallow, plum, violets and blueberry jam. The palate was long and soft and deep with plummy purple blue fruits, blueberry and earthy beetroot with a lingering red berry gummy bear character which i just really dont know why but I’m noticing it even more as the wine evolved over an hour. Length is nice and elegant and not frighteningly long but long enough to make you want to keep looking. I know you’ll be able to enjoy this for a decade or more.
